Thank you to our co-op line crews who have battled heavy winds and rain Thursday and Friday to restore power to co-op members across the state in the wake of Tropical Storm Debby.
After reaching a peak of approximately 29,500 outages Thursday morning, less than 1,200 outages remain across co-op service territories statewide.

9:30 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 9
Cooperative crews continue to make significant progress in the wake of Debby’s trek across the state. Currently, nearly 90 percent of outages have been restored across the cooperative network after reaching a peak Thursday morning. Restoration efforts will continue throughout the morning and into the afternoon as crews work to restore power to all co-op members.
- As of 9:30 a.m. on Friday, approximately 3,000 North Carolina cooperative members are without power, down from a peak of approximately 29,500 Thursday morning.
- Co-op crews will continue to work as quickly and safely as possible to restore power to members still impacted by outages from Debby.
- While restoration continues, cooperatives encourage members to stay far away from any downed or sagging power lines and report them to your local co-op.

7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 8
Power outages across the network of 26 electric cooperatives in North Carolina are down to 6,000. Thank you to electric cooperative members for your support and patience.
- Drenched yet determined, electric cooperative line crews have returned power to more than 22,000 members today.
- Crews will continue their push until power is restored to the remaining members.

- Power has been restored for more than 18,000 members. Crews continue to work throughout the evening, working as safely and quickly as possible to bring the lights back on to the remaining 11,500 homes
- Debby has continued to weaken as the storm system moves north, however, the flood risk will persist for several days as rivers continue to swell, which could lead to additional, localized outages.
- As the storm passes and conditions improve, please remember that power restoration is still ongoing – stay far away from downed or sagging power lines and report them to your cooperative.

North Carolina electric cooperative crews are making great progress in assessing damage and restoring power, but scattered outages could continue as strong winds and heavy rainfall continue to impact the state.
- As of 1 p.m. on Thursday, approximately 16,000 North Carolina cooperative members are without power, down from a peak of around 30,000 earlier in the morning.

Cooperative crews have worked throughout the morning and continue to make progress restoring power even as new outages arise due to storm conditions.
- As of 10 a.m. on Thursday, approximately 25,500 North Carolina cooperative members are without power.
- Cooperation among cooperatives in effect, with crews from unaffected areas being mobilized to assist with power restoration in harder hit areas.
- Remember, please use caution and be aware of crews working to restore power on or near roadways, giving them enough space to work to ensure their safety and allow them to focus on their restoration efforts.

Debby began its trek into North Carolina overnight, bringing strong winds and heavy rain to a significant portion of the state. These conditions, combined with saturated grounds from continuous heavy rainfall, are resulting in power outages due to downed trees and limbs.
- As of 7 a.m. on Thursday, approximately 28,000 North Carolina cooperative members are without power.
- Debby is expected to continue to impact much of the state throughout the day.
