Are the rooms air-conditioned? No. The rooms have thick stone walls that keep them cool in summer. All rooms have fans. Heat is never usually a problem in the rooms unless we have a severe heat-wave.
Are any of the rooms wheelchair-accessible? No none of our rooms are wheelchair friendly, We have 2 rooms on the ground floor for guests who can not manage stairs, you should bear in mind that Appleton’s does not have ramps or paths and there is one step into the house, gravel is on the driveway, so unfortunately not suitable for wheel-chairs.
What is your smoking policy? All the rooms, including the bathrooms, are non-smoking but you are free to smoke outside if you wish. Please be careful as the grass can be very dry in summer. It is illegal for you to smoke in the house as we are a registered B&B and it is unsafe and unpleasant for the other guests, there is a great garden to smoke in and being an ex smoker myself I do understand.
Is there internet access? If you have your own lap-top or tablet with a wireless connection you should be able to get connected, although this may depend on your computer and settings so it can’t be guaranteed. In rural France broadband connections are not as fast as in Cities.
Are dogs welcome? Yes, so long as they are friendly and won’t trouble the other guests. Please don’t allow your beloved pet in or on the beds, we appreciate your help with this, as I’m sure you realise we have to rent rooms out to other guests, please make enquiries for large breeds of dog, we ask you also to clear up any dog mess, and take your dog down the lane for a short walk to do their toilet, we have our Pet friendly rooms on the ground floor as these have tiled floors. There is a supplement per night for dogs.
Do you have a gym? No unfortunately not, but we have an above ground pool and bikes are available for you to use if you are staying a few days, please enquire. All equipment is used at your own risk.
What do we need to bring? In summer the weather is generally very warm so you will not need more than a light jumper or jacket in the evenings at most. Bring plenty of sun-cream and a towel for the pool.
When staying for just one night please pack an overnight case, this makes it so much easier when coming into the house as we can not always help you carry heavy suitcases. Dinner is not formal wear so you don’t need a dinner jacket !!
Please do not feed Leo the Labrador.
We don’t have a check in time but ask guests to arrive around between 16h.30 and 19h.00, this is our home as well as our business and we have a lot to do during the afternoons, if you are going to be earlier, please let us know and we will make every effort to welcome you earlier or later.
Check out is by 10.30 am and breakfast is from 7am to 9 am.
How can I pay the balance of my Bill? Payment is by cash, Sterling or Euro’s or French cheque.
